How and when did you first find out about your 'psychic abilities'?
I was 5 years old and remember it well. I had my first clairvoyant experience while playing with my friends. They had floating balls around their heads. Sometimes they would pop with a loud noise. They would be red balls if they were angry or pink balls if they were happy.
How was it growing up with these special skills? Are they natural talents or did you study and develop them?
Well, I had a family that had no skills to handle such a talent. Growing up was confusing and exciting at the same time. I could tell a few friends some funny things that were about happen and it was fun. But, I have to tell you it was a time in my life that I had to work at this gift to understand it and apply the knowledge with faith I was making the right decisions in my work. I really wish I had had a mentor then, because I think I could have inspired many others to use their intuition and help them experience growth.

Do you think anyone can develop psychic skills?
Yes, I do think anyone can learn to tap into their intuition. We all have the ability, it is built into each of us. There are many books for beginners and I do recommend checking some out. It may seem too easy but that is the best place to start and then - practice, practice, practice!
What type of mentality do you think it takes to develop these skills?
A focused mind! Above all, check the 'EGO' at the door. That is the worst place to be when you are gaining ground being a psychic. The ego can teach the wrong way to use this newfound skill.
Are you able to turn your psychic abilities 'on' or 'off' when you want to? Do you have any rituals to turn them 'on'.
For many years, I had trouble shutting down this part of my life. I only read spiritual books and meditated for hours on end. I finally realized work was only a part of this wonderful life I was learning and living in. Now, I meditate for only 30 minutes a day and that is enough for me. Sometimes I go to the movie and am so intense into the film that I realize I am in a psychic trance and not able to move even a finger! SO, now I make sure I say a few words to myself that my intent is to watch a movie for fun. That way I stay out of the psychic world and do not see any figures floating around in the dark or any talking from the other world too.
As far as turning them 'on', I say a prayer for the people I am going to work with that day and ask for assistance in not allowing my personal ego to become involved. I also ask I only receive information for my client that is for the highest and best good for them. I also ask for my own white light protection, so I will stay clean during the day from negative energy I may come upon. I also do a small spiritual cleansing of my personal space when my reading day is complete. I use the principles of Feng Shui to keep my space balanced and for proper alignment to enhance and strengthen my abilities.
How did you get into doing psychic readings?
Well, I was reading as young as 5 or 6, passing on information that I saw, which proved true to family friends and then it evolved from there for most of my youth. I did put it somewhat on the back burner while I married and had children. Then one day I was standing in the grocery line behind a dear lady and I tapped her on the shoulder and said "Your hair looks great and no one will know you cut it yourself and you did cut off the coffeepot and you turned down the air conditioner". She was so shocked and wanted to know how I knew this information? A few more encounters like this in various public places and I knew I had come full circle. The universe was guiding me home. I have now been reading professionally for over 25 years.
What happens during a psychic reading?
I am conecting with the client the moment the phone rings or the person is in my presence. As a clairvoyant, I receive visions of issues involved in the reading almost always before the client starts talking. Colors can tell a lot of the intense energies of the parties involved. Sometimes I get messages in my right ear that can be bold at times and of course, just the inner knowing of being a psychic, sometimes gives me a chill, electrical current in the body. I really like it when aclient wants specific questions answered. Asking for a general reading can waste valuable time and still can leave you needing more answers. A good reading is one from whoich you can take away REAL information.
What is your primary tool for divination? What is your specialty?
I do not use tools. I have been blessed with being able to create a natural energy based connection through clairvoyance, clairaudience, and clairsentience. I consider all of these gifts my specialty. I use all of them in my mediumship also.
Can you communicate with spirits who have passed on?
Yes, I am able to connect with a family member or friend who has passed over. Many spirits have a great desire to get a message home about their transition. I have been doing this work for many years and feel it is a calling also. I feel there is a great desire for the departed ones to let our world know what a wonderful place they moved on to and channel several spirits in written material.
Is there anything else you'd like to share about your abilities or a good experience?
A few years ago a client's blind dog had gotten out of the house and was lost in the Phoenix, Arizona desert around her home in the heat of the summer where very little rain happens and the temperature is very dangerous in the summer months. She begged me to help find this dog. I quickly started telling her to go out her front door and turn to her left and walk down to the old dirt path and follow it for about a mile and there her precious dog would be, waiting in the mud hole. She cried out almost in anger about no rain in the past several months and she needed to really know where the dog was. Again, I repeated the directions and being an old client of mine, she took to heart what I had to say. About an hour later, the phone rang with her screaming with excitement. Sure enough, she followed those directions and her beautiful blind dog was sitting in the mud hole as if she was waiting for her! I have never forgotten that wonderful story and was so humbled that the spirit world had blessed me with this wonderful job and everyday maybe having the chance to experience another heart-warming story like this.
The "Maggie" TV Series: A Psychic's Perspective
It’s really difficult for me to find television shows that I am genuinely excited about, but one episode into Maggie and I was hooked. Six minutes into the first episode, I texted my friend Dan and told him I loved it and that he should watch it. “Is that the show about the psychic?” he asked. “Yep!” I replied. Dan is right.
We already know representation matters in regards to the bigger aspects of identity like race and sexual orientation. I hadn’t really considered it from my perspective as a psychic. It’s one of those “you don’t know you’re missing it until it’s in your face,” scenarios. But the truth is, I’m really excited about this show because Maggie is a positive representation of psychics as people. She’s not a one-dimensional character. She’s relatable on multiple levels not only because of her abilities but because of her humanity.
The challenges she experiences regarding her abilities is uniquely relatable. I don’t have to extrapolate, I can directly empathize. There are instances where Maggie feels like she doesn’t belong. She feels she’s too normal for some friends and not normal enough for others. She’s afraid to put herself out there and let people know who she is and what she does.
As a card reader who has been doing this work for 24 years, knowing all the time and effort I put in especially before opening up shop, I felt vindicated. I decided to watch this show at a serendipitous time. Sometimes, I felt as though it was written just for me. It helps that the cast is depicted as my age group (30s) and not forced into the typical “millennial” role of the broke, vacuous drifter that many programs assert.
Criticisms and Plot Necessities
Like all fiction, there are some things that don’t line up. If you’ve ever read any of my work or talked to me about getting a reading regarding the future, you know that there are multiple possibilities for what can happen in the future depending upon the choices you make. Any reading I give will present the future based on your current trajectory, and other circumstances that aren’t in your control.
Very few future events are fixed, but when Maggie gives readings, she foretells events as if it’s written in stone: if she sees it, it’ll happen. This is true sometimes. Other times, people can make other choices that affect the outcome. This is my only criticism regarding this show, but truth be told I don’t expect fictional representation to align perfectly with reality so this doesn’t bother me all that much. It’s also a necessity of the plot.
So, if you haven’t given Maggie a watch yet and you’re psychic or into psychic and (fun) paranormal content, I recommend cuing it up. Maggie is available to stream on Hulu.
