Symbols and Their Meanings
Symbols are powerful tools in witchcraft, representing various aspects of life and the universe. Adding these to your nail art can enhance your intentions.
To incorporate symbols into your nail art, you can use nail stickers, stamping plates, or freehand painting. Here are some popular Wiccan symbols and their meanings:
- Pentagram: Represents the five elements (earth, air, fire, water, spirit) and protection.
- Moon phases: Symbolize cycles, intuition, and feminine energy.
- Triple Moon: Represents the Maiden, Mother, and Crone aspects of the Goddess.
- Sun: Represents energy, vitality, and masculine power.
- Spirals: Symbolize growth, evolution, and the journey of life.
Sigils: Personalised Symbols
Sigils are personalised symbols created to represent specific desires or intentions. Once your sigil is created, you can paint it onto your nails.
To create a sigil, write down your intention, remove all vowels and repeating letters, and then combine the remaining letters into a unique symbol.

Rituals for Your Manicure
Transform your manicure routine into a meditative practice. As you paint your nails, focus on your breathing and visualize your intentions with each brushstroke.
Before starting your manicure, take a moment to cleanse and charge your nail tools and polishes:
- Cleansing: You can cleanse your tools with sage smoke or by placing them in sunlight or moonlight.
- Charging: Hold your tools and polishes in your hands, close your eyes, and visualise them being filled with your desired energy.
Anointing your nails and cuticles with charged oils or lotions can add an extra layer of magic to your manicure.
Crystals and Gemstones
Crystals can amplify the energy of your manicure.
Gemstone Nail Art: Use small crystals or gemstones as accents on your nails.

I tried to choose symbols that could have a positive meaning for me, were I to believe in all this wholeheartedly, and my reference article can be read here. For these, I decided on simple black and Silver color scheme with matte finish. I felt like this way the symbols stood out nicely, and they would be perfect for everyday wear as well.
And don't get scared by the pentagram looking symbol, its meaning is actually more positive according to the article I saw for this design. Hand drawing all the symbols was a work itself, but I feel it was completely worth it. For this, I used base coat and fast dry top coat by Glisten & Glow, Liquid Leather and I'd Melt For You by China Glaze and Matte About You top coat by Essie.
There are times when simple, sweet nail art just won't cut it. That's when witch-inspired nail art comes into play, with all the dark, rich, stunning visuals one can throw a wand at.

We’re starting this collection off strong with these beautiful deep blue almond-shaped nails topped with gold celestial body detailing. This set is perfect for those who love glitter. This set features the famous pentagram which is a symbol of faith that represents the five different elements.
We’ve got a nail set that leans towards the classic depiction of Wicca. We’re playing around with a lot of dark colors and a lot of different symbols. This nail set makes me feel as if I’m peaking into a dream. The beautiful wavy marble base looks like a galaxy and magic, which is very Wiccan.
The great thing about French tips is that they can be customized to your liking. If you’d like to keep it simpler, try incorporating a couple of accent nails with Wiccan symbols. This allows you to keep the rest of your nails painted with plain polish. This nail set is perfectly balanced as it’s got plain polish, glitter, and an accent nail with Wiccan elements.
When you really want a certain symbol or element to shine, sticking with one or two accent nails maximum is a great way to add emphasis. Here’s a lovely long nail set with a whole lot of shining elements. I’m personally a huge fan of French tips, but if I’m in the mood to elevate things a bit, I’d try elongating them until the middle of the nail.
Why not try out your luck with the wheel of fortune? This is such an amazing symbol in Wicca that emphasizes that what you’re going through right now is temporary. These nails make me feel like I’m looking into an old book all about Wicca.
There’s always something so enchanting about glitter. There’s a certain charm that comes from matte black nails. If you prefer a starker look, you should definitely go for a classic black and white combo. Here we’ve got a coffin-shaped set topped with some white details.
What’s bolder than red and black? This nail set is all about that edgy feel. I like how there are so many grunge elements. If you just want a straightforward Wiccan nail set, go for these black nails topped with Wiccan elements.
Here’s another really bold color combination. I like how they included a red accent nail since it breaks up the blandness of the black and white color combo. Looking at this nail set get gives me the desire to just stare up at the sky at the northern lights. If you love the look of black and white nails but don’t want them to be too bright, make sure to top it off with a matte topcoat.
Brown is a color I’ve been really enjoying lately because it’s a really great alternative to black. It’s still dark but it’s got more rosy tones to it. Here we’ve got a black to pink dripping ombré effect. This has got to be one of my favorite nail sets so far because of the beautiful deep red color that always creates such a sultry look.
It’s time to level up your plain black nails with some texture. Here we’ve got some accent nails topped with crocodile nail designs. Another way to level up your black nails is to add in a bunch of sparkles. I really like how this nail set features such adorable designs of some Wiccan elements.
I’m in awe of this nail set because it really elevates your typical French tip and wave designs. Purple and gold are your classic magic colors. We’ve got another one of those classic black and white sets but this time we’ve got an added twist.
Pink to white ombré nails is one of those classic looks that will always stay in style because of how versatile they are! These nails both remind me of cotton candy and galaxies. I love these unique natural pink-to-black ombré nails.
They created the illusion of claws that overall look really cool. If you’ve got a favorite symbol, you can parade them using your nails by creating a pattern of sorts. If you love those black tips, but you don’t want them to look too edgy or claw-like, try going for a pink base first.
Here’s another one of my favorite nail designs! Another one of my favorite color combos for some edgy nails is a nude pink with black details. Here’s a cute short nail set with a mix of solid black nails, ombrés, and V-shaped Frenchies.
I really like the look of the half-black and half-white nails, especially when the designs follow suit! It makes the nails look more compelling. And can we also talk about the cleanliness of the designs? I’d recommend this half-white, half-blue set if you prefer a bit more color.
This nail set makes moons look a million times more creative. French tips are made even better when painted with a gorgeous multi-colored reflective chrome. This nail set made use of French tips and made them a bit more fluid by creating waves instead of straight lines. The blue shade used also created a very refreshing look.
These nails remind me so much of tattoos. My favorite thing about this nail set is the color combination along with the art style. This set creates a design that looks haunted yet enchanting.
I truly love the look of these pink to black ombrés. They both double as French tips while also looking like fallen ink. If you love the look of glamorous nails, opt for stiletto tips. They instantly make your nails look more dramatic and stylish.
Why not elevate your French tips some more by adding soft glitter to them? You can easily have the best of both worlds by mixing your black nails with some bright reflective chrome. We’re ending this nail collection with these sparkly nails that remind me so much of the star-filled night sky. It gives a monochromatic feel as the base matches the silver details.
These Wiccan nail art designs come from user submissions and open sources and we’ll always give credit to the fabulous artists that create them. All of the fantastic styles belong to their respective owners.
