Capricorn Clark's Explosive Testimony in Diddy's Sex Crimes Trial

The federal trial for sex crimes against Sean "Diddy" Combs has seen a significant development with the testimony of his former assistant, Capricorn Clark. Clark's statements have been described as "the most explosive" thus far in the trial, potentially bolstering the racketeering charges against the disgraced music mogul.

On May 27, Capricorn Clark - a personal assistant who worked in various other roles for Combs and his businesses from 2004 to 2012, then again in 2016 - testified about the threats and violence she'd witnessed from him over the years. During an at times emotional day of testimony, a former employee of Sean "Diddy" Combs opened up about the former hip-hop icon's alleged retaliation that prevented her from employment in the music industry. Advisory: This report includes descriptions of physical violence. On Tuesday, federal lawyers prosecuting Sean Combs continued widening their case against the hip-hop mogul. The sole witness on the stand for the day was a woman named Capricorn Clark, who rose from being Combs' personal assistant to heading marketing for his Sean John fashion company.

Julia Jayne, criminal defense lawyer at Jayne Law Group, explained that Capricorn became an important witness for the prosecution due to her proximity to Diddy.

Key Allegations and Testimony Highlights

Much of Clark's testimony, including various claims of physical threats and intimidation allegedly made by Combs and some of his associates, was aimed to bolster the racketeering charges against Combs. But some of her most vivid statements were related to Combs' admittedly tumultuous and violent relationship with his then-girlfriend, the singer and model Casandra "Cassie" Ventura. Combs has pleaded not guilty to all the charges, which also include sex trafficking and transportation to commit prostitution.

  • Threats and Intimidation: Capricorn Clark testified that during the years she worked for him - off and on between 2004 and 2018 - he repeatedly threatened her, and kidnapped her in December 2011.
  • Death Row Connection: Diddy allegedly discovered Capricorn had previously worked at Death Row Records with his rival, Suge Knight, and told her that if anything happened, he would have to kill her.
  • Lie Detector Test: Capricorn also testified that she was allegedly forced to take a five-day lie detector test after a bag of jewelry went missing. Combs accused Clark of stealing diamond jewelry. His security locked her in an office and administered a lie detector test. They told her that if she failed, they would throw her in the East River. They took her to the same office and questioned her with a lie detector for five days straight. That’s kidnapping and a racketeering act.
  • Kid Cudi Incident: She told the court that in December 2011, Diddy allegedly showed up at her apartment with a gun and orders to get dressed because they were going to "kill" Cassie Ventura's then-boyfriend, Kid Cudi.
  • Blackballing Allegations: As she sought a new job, Clark told the court, Combs tried to blackball her. She alleged that she met with Jimmy Iovine for what she thought was a job opportunity, but the co-founder of Interscope Records and Beats Electronics, among others, gave her a warning on Combs' behalf.

Rahmani added that Clark's claims of having to procure illegal and prescription drugs for her former boss in prescriptions made in her name is considered "drug trafficking and another RICO predicate."

Contradictions and Defense

Still, Rahmani said the defense "scored some points on cross-examination" when Capricorn's settlement for wrongful termination was addressed in court. During cross-examination, Combs' attorney Marc Agnifilo repeatedly targeted inconsistencies in Clark's accounts, including a previous claim to prosecutors that Combs had allegedly pointed the gun at her in 2011. From the stand, Clark said that instead Combs had been "waving it around."

Additionally, Capricorn admitted that she had a crush on Diddy in text messages, and that she met with Combs in August to try to rejoin his team as his chief of staff. "Clark was represented by Bryan Freedman, Justin Baldoni’s lawyer, and in that meeting, she said that Diddy wouldn’t be in this mess if he had kept her around and that Ventura wasn’t good for Combs," Rahmani said. "The defense is arguing that Clark is a disgruntled former employee who wants money and revenge, and who is jealous of Ventura."

Agnifilo also asked Clark why she had returned to work for Combs repeatedly, given her allegations. She said that it was because she had been unable to get hired for any other job in the music industry. Her last position in Combs' employ, she said, was as Ventura's "creative director" in 2016.

Reactions and Expert Opinions

Former federal prosecutor Neama Rahmani told Fox News Digital that, as the third assistant witness to testify, Capricorn's testimony "was the most explosive" thus far in the trial. Los Angeles litigator John J. Perlstein told Fox News Digital that Capricorn's testimony followed a pattern of "universally established malicious conduct," which could be very damaging to Diddy.

"Ms. Clark’s testimony corroborates the beatings and Diddy’s history of violence towards many, especially women, further supporting the racketeering charges being levied against him," Perlstein said. "Ms. Clark’s testimony came across very well and will undoubtedly be valuable to the prosecution’s case and damaging to the defendant’s."

Jayne told Fox News Digital. "Her testimony can certainly corroborate certain allegations, but it is unclear whether it will advance the racketeering theory, since the defense is apparently not denying domestic violence conduct by Diddy,"

"Overall, at a minimum, if she presents as credible, the jury will have a more robust picture of Diddy's behavior, attitude and alleged vindictiveness and aggression." - Julia Jayne
