Earth Chakras: Exploring the Planet's Energy Centers

There’s a subtle electrical current that runs around Earth - imagine lines of energy similar to how humans have veins. Just like the human body that has chakras or areas of swirled energy, so does our planet. Many believe that these chakras mirror those of Earth.

All of these places have been revered for thousands of years and ancient civilizations often built their megalithic sacred monuments in areas they considered “Earth’s Highest Energy Vortexes” or “Earth Chakras”.

Here, we delve into the concept of Earth chakras, exploring their locations and the energies they are believed to represent.

The Earth has 7 chakras or wheels of energies, just like the human body. These chakras fuel and spread spiritual power. Many believe that being close to these physical, energetic points is invigorating and spiritually awakening.

These major chakras are energy centres that generate and spread spiritual power. When the chakra system is running improperly or has been wounded in some way, this blocks the energy from flowing freely and results in obstacles and blockages within the individual.

1. Muladhara (Root Chakra): Mount Shasta, California, USA

The first of the 7 chakras of the Earth sits in Northern California. The majestic Mount Shasta in the Cascade Range which has long been a site that North American tribes have deep meaning with. It holds holy and spiritual meaning for North American tribes and it’s not uncommon for others to feel a draw to this towering active volcano.

It’s part of the cascade mountain range which runs from Northern California up into the Canadian border. Mt. Shasta is located at the southern end of the Cascade Range, which runs like a dragon from northern California, through Oregon, and through Washington to the Canadian border.

Out of all the places on Earth, the root chakra is the core of Mother Earth’s energy. Because of this, Mt. Shasta is considered to be the base of Mother Earth’s energy system; and regarded as a holy mountain by Native Americans.

Associated with the root chakra (Muladhara) that’s located at the base of the spine, the first charka governs our emotions related to security, comfort, acceptance, and confidence. A volcano is fitting for this chakra that is related to Earth, grounding, and our foundation.

Here, the raw precursors of biological life are released into global circulation and development. Mt. Shasta regulates the universal life force prior to its integration into individual life forms and species.

There’s a lot of legend and mysticism surrounding Mount Shasta. The first inhabitants recorded date back as far as 7,000 years ago but it is thought to be inhabited long before that. Many believe this area to be part of old Lemuria, which is an ancient civilization older than Atlantis that was filled with superior human-like people that still live within the mountain in a series of elaborate caves.

The Earth’s Root chakra is the chakra energy that connects your energy to the Earth itself - located at the base of the spine within our bodies.

2. Svadhisthana (Sacral Chakra): Lake Titicaca, Peru/Bolivia

The 2nd Chakra on this planet is located at Lake Titicaca. To be more specific it’s centre is located on the Island of the Sun where the Titicaca Stone is found.

Lake Titicaca is said to be the womb of the planet and encompasses both masculine and feminine energies, as two ley lines, cross at this point that represents our feminine (Dragon serpent) and masculine (Rainbow serpent).

Nestled between Peru and Bolivia, Lake Titicaca is believed to be the center of life’s pleasures. Some say that swimming in these waters helps fuel creativity.

Crossing the border of Peru and Bolivia, Lake Titicaca is the largest lake in South America and is where Incas once called home, on Isla del Sol (Island of the Sun), that sits among the water closer to the southern end of the lake.

These territories were inhabited by cultures before the Incas, especially by the Tiahuanaco (100 - 700 AD), later, when this kingdom was destroyed, its people went to the North and then, its descendents founded the Inca kingdom.

In the 1970’s with Jacques Cousteau and then again in 2000, an international archaeological expedition discovered an ancient temple submerged in the depths of Lake Titicaca dating back before human history as we know it began. The huge structure is nearly twice the size of a soccer field (660 feet long), and was found by following a submerged road that begins near Copacabana. The temple is estimated to be between 1,000 and 1,500 years old.

The centre point of life’s pleasure, The Earth’s Sacral Chakra represents creativity and sexuality.

When balanced, you begin to relish in life’s pleasures, without overdoing it.

The centre of the second chakra is where you can find the Titicaca Stone. The surrounding areas (which includes Machu Pichu) are also believed to be buzzing with high energy.

3. Manipura (Solar Plexus Chakra): Uluru and Kata Tjuta, Australia

The Manipura, or the solar plexus chakra, lies in Uluru (Ayer’s rock) and the rock formations of Kata Tjuta. You can find Uluru and Kata Tjuta in Northern Australia. It is still considered to be sacred to Aboriginals in the area today.

Located in the Northern part of Australia, Earth’s solar plexus chakra is said to be the world’s lifeline. The Uluru and Kata Tjuta rock formations sit at the center of the solar plexus.

Our solar plexus charka, Manipura, is associated with self-confidence, personal power, self-worth, and willpower which easily connects to the imposing rocks of Uluru and Kata Tjuta that rise seemingly out of nowhere in the middle of the Australian desert.

They’re still considered sacred ground to the native Aboriginals. It’s believed to be the primary chakra for the maintenance of global health and vitality.

Uluru, formerly known as Ayers Rock, is the more famous of the two. This large red monolith is, along with the Sydney Opera House, an icon of the smallest continent. Katatjuta, also called The Olgas, is equally impressive.

In the ancient creation legends of the Aborigines, “Dreamtime”, there is a story about a great ritual which has yet to be completed at Uluru. This ritual was meant to complete the great plan of the earth spirit. When the ritual is complete, then perfection will spread throughout the world, and death will disappear from all species.

This event is symbolized by a great pole, or cosmic umbilical cord, which is destined to unite the Sun with the Earth - heaven with earth.

Both of these areas are believed to represent the solar plexus, which is the lifeline supplying energy to all living things. When balanced, the solar plexus gives you a feeling of personal power, a sense of wisdom, and decisiveness.

The Solar Plexus governs confidence, vitality and power. A solar plexus that has been wounded can result in low self-esteem or, conversely, too much confidence which turns into excessive pride.

Vishuddha, or the throat chakra, is marked by the Great Pyramid, Mount Sinai and the Mount of Olives (in Jerusalem). These Eastern landmarks are some of the biggest energy centers on Earth.

The 5th chakra is the throat chakra and is popularly believed to be the Great Pyramid of Giza and Mount Sinai in Egypt. They are said to be the Voice of our planet, the throat chakra, governing our communication of thoughts and feelings. It is how we express our inner creativity.

The Great Pyramid of Giza, also called the Pyramid of Khufu and the Pyramid of Cheops, is the oldest and largest of the three pyramids in the Giza Necropolis. Originally, the Great Pyramid was covered by casing stones that formed a smooth outer surface; what is seen today is the underlying core structure.

Some of the casing stones that once covered the structure can still be seen around the base. The Great Pyramid is thirty times larger than the Empire State Building, the Pyramid’s features are so large they can be seen from the Moon. Its base covers 13.6 acres, each side being greater than five acres in area.

It’s believed that these three locations connect to make up the throat, Vishuddha, chakra which governs our voice, and our truth/self-expression. It’s widely known that all of these locations have deep spiritual meaning, are most definitely associated with ancient history, and even two of them are connected to the Bible. The Pyramids of Egypt are unique too as this isn’t a spot where ley lines intersect, but it is one of Earth’s energy vortexes.

They are said to be the Voice of our planet, the throat chakra, governing our communication of thoughts and feelings. It is how we express our inner creativity.
