The Enigmatic Angel Hair Phenomenon: Unraveling the Threads of Mystery

The "angel hair" phenomenon is named for its similarity to fine hair. It refers to a substance allegedly emitted by UFOs.

In ufology, this material is known as "angel hair," and some suspect that it is ionized air sleeting off an electromagnetic field surrounding a UFO. In some cases, the substance has been found to be the web threads of migrating spiders.

Reports of Angel Hair Around the World

There have been many reports of falls of angel hair around the world.

  • The most widely reported incidence occurred in Oloron, France in 1952, when "great flakes" were reported as falling from a nearly cloudless sky. People of the town of Oloron were Suddenly someone cried, "What is that falling from the sky?" Great flakes were falling from a near cloudless sky.
  • On October 27, 1954, Gennaro Lucetti and Pietro Lastrucci reported standing on the balcony of a hotel in St.
  • According to the Tamworth, N.S.W. "Mrs. E. swear that they saw cobwebs fall from the sky after UFOs passed overhead. after the incident."
  • On Sunday, August 9, 1998. of Tamworth, N.S.W. from the sky. She saw twenty silver balls which passed overhead. of cobweb. When she tried to pick it up, it disintegrated in her hand.

Cases of the falling thread are neither historically nor geographically isolated. In 1561, when there were reports of a “celestial phenomenon” in Nuremberg, angel hair was one aspect of the occurrence.

Let's take a look at a recent example of angel hair being reported, this time in Portugal. The thin strands rained down in 2014, two weekends in a row. One anonymous (and lone) quote from the incident came from a witness who claimed to have gotten a sample analyzed, only to see it come "alive" under UV light.

In Évora, Portugal, on November 2, 1959, a substance described as angel hair was collected and analyzed under a microscope by a local school director and later by armed forces technicians and scientists of the University of Lisbon. On two occasions, samples were sent for testing. On October 13, 1917, a sample found at Cova da Iria was sent to Lisbon and on October 17, 1957, another sample found at Cova da Iria was examined. The analysis found this to be natural, consisting of white flakes.

The Incident in Oloron, France (1952)

It was the strangest sight to ever grace the sky over Oloron, France. In the early afternoon of October 17, 1952, according to one of the many witnesses, high school superintendent Jean-Yves Prigent, there appeared a "cottony cloud of strange shape. . . . Above it, a narrow cylinder, apparently inclined at a 45-degree angle, was slowly moving in a straight line toward the southwest. . . In front of this "cylinder" were 30 smaller objects that, when viewed through opera glasses, proved to be red spheres, each surrounded by a yellow ring.

"These 'saucers' moved in pairs," Prigent said, "following a broken path characterized in general by rapid and short zigzags. But this was only the beginning of the strangeness. A white, hairlike substance rained down from all of the objects, wrapping itself around telephone wires, tree branches, and the roofs of houses. When observers picked up the material and rolled it into a ball, it turned into a gelatinlike substance and vanished. Such "angel hair" is reported from time to time.

Analysis and Theories

The sample from Florence on October 27, 1954 was tested very soon after collection. Laboratory analysis of authentic material (airborne cobwebs are sometimes mistaken for angel hair) is impossible because the material always vanishes.

The problem with conclusively arguing where all angel hair comes from-or what it is-is that the substance tends to disappear soon after forming. This means that in some cases everyone from scientists to conspiracy theorists have to take the word of those who witness it. In 1950s France, angel hair was described as “great flakes,” while in 21st century Australia, angel hair was encountered as a silky blanket.

Adding to the abundance of theories around the hair is that many historical incidents were only briefly reported, making them ripe for modern speculation.

Spider Migration

One explanation that is less conspiracy and but still creepy? Some spiders actually migrate on airborne cobwebs, sometimes in large groups. The webs sometimes rain down, causing anyone reading this to have nightmares forever about raining spiders.

It was 1999, and the middle of the week in the sparsely populated desert state of Western Australia, when a man known only as Peter made a phone call to Australian UFO Registry. Peter didn’t know.

The mystery didn’t last long in Peter’s particular case, however. A few days after his call, a local entomologist reported to the area newspaper, the Esperance Express, that his car was covered with hundreds of baby spiders. This phenomenon is known as ballooning.

“The animal lifts its abdomen and extrudes a piece of silk (still connected to the spinneret),” she explains, “and eventually the wind catches the silk and lifts the spidering off carrying it away.

It is worth noting, however, that the “vanishing” quality of angel hair is consistent with the spider explanation.

Case closed on angel hair? Not so fast, say ufologists and conspiracy experts, many of whom contend that the threads have extra-terrestrial associations.

Extraterrestrial Hypotheses

UFO researcher and pilot Brian Boldman conducted a major review of angel hair in 2001, citing the existence of 225 cases of angel hair between 679 AD and 2001. Boldman’s contention is that while some cases of angel hair may be due to spiders, others are potentially extra-terrestrial events.

While Boldman doesn’t explain how angel hair may relate to the UFOs, other ufologists have attempted to explain their relationship. These paranormal experts argue that angel hair is ionized air sleeting off an electromagnetic field created by a UFO.

It’s worth noting however that not all ufologists agree.

Other Theories

For some, angel hair is proof of chem-trails. This claim is bolstered by test results of the hair, which have sometimes shown traces of metals.

Nonetheless, the lack of clear testing of many of the cases has meant conspiracy theories have flourished.

Angel hairs are string-like 'lines' that appear out of nowhere and form unique patterns. Angel hairs are string-like lines that appear out of nowhere and form unique patterns. They are also known as the "Cosmic Strings" of creation. geometric patterns.

Angel hair is often connected to UFO or Spirit presence. Angel hair is usually white or gray in color, but may have a yellowish color. It is often seen falling from the sky. People have caught falling angel hair in their hands only to have it turn to liquid or sublimate in a few seconds.

Not everyone is quite so dramatic, with many acknowledging most incidents may in fact be “just” flying spiders.

Secret government plot, airborne spiders, or visiting aliens?

Here's a pro tip: When writing about a phenomenon largely associated with conspiracy theories and UFO sightings, don't find yourself plum surprised to see that you're having a heck of a time finding reputable news sources and research upon which to base an article.

As described by those who claim to have observed such things, the angel hair phenomenon occurs in the form of wispy strands of a substance falling from the sky without ready explanation.

The phenomenon has been spotted in France, Finland and Canada, and one of the hallmarks of the stuff appears to be that the feathery strands evaporate before anyone can actually analyze or study them [source: Waugh].

But conspiracy theorists have their own brand of interesting, and some have determined that the angel hair is proof of chemtrails, those nasty biological weapons that the government and aeronautics industry are using to poison us and the land.

Personal Encounters with Angel Hair

The angel hair I encountered didn't fall from the sky - or from a UFO. They appeared in my home in 1989. On Christmas morning - 1989 - on a cold snow day - I woke up and discovered shiny string-like lines forming a zigzag pattern from my bed to the bathroom.

As my carpet and bedding were navy blue - the lines were easy to see and the patterns to follow. On further inspection I noticed that they were not all of equal widths - some parts of the lines were a bit wider than others - as if someone had been trying to make a picture using glue and clear glitter. When I touched any part of the lines - the part I touched would disintegrate.

I quickly went into my emotional / spiritual body to see if there was any danger. I had never seen anythign like these lines - so I had no basis of comparison. My initial thoughts were that 'bugs' made the lines - but there were no bugs or energies of bugs anywhere. I was fascinated with the lines which basically were large zigzags across the floor. My 'normal' friends told me to just vaccuum them up as they meant nothing. My 'paranormal' friends told me about the concept of 'angel hair'.

The angel hair didn't photograph or I would have images to show you now. I am sorry that I didn't draw diagrams of what was placed my the floor in 1989-1990. Furthermore the stuff couldn't be picked up and studied. Then one day - a psychic friend named Andrea stopped by to look it over.

Months before, in the Autumn of 1989, I had started the story of 'Sarah and Alexander' - after a child calling himself Alexander had come to me from another realm. Somehow Alexander and the angel hair were linked. I only worked briefly with Alexander during that period of that time - about four months. When he was gone - the angle hair stopped.

Since that time I am not sure that angel hair hasn't appeared in my new home as the carpeting and tile are now beige. There is a possiblity that you have experienced angel hair in your home but never knew what it was. I personally feel that my angel hair was created by Z - who projected himself as the child, Alexander at that time. Was I fooled by him?

I can see why they are linked to spiders and spider webs. This relates to the theory of all things being linked back to one source through a kind of spider-web matrix. In physical science there is a related theory called Superstring Theory.

Superstring theory, is a theory of particle physics that treats elementary particles as extended one-dimensional "string-like" objects rather than as the dimensionless points in space-time used in other theories. After years of this research - I do know that all things are from one source - held together by a matrix of EM energies that link all things - in all dimensions - back to the same creational source. Sometimes I see everything as a big ball of wool in which we have gotten twisted as we go round and round knitting together the fabric of time. In our 3D realms we need to label that Source in order to give it meaning.
