Full House: A Look Back at Season 3

Full House chronicles a widowed father's struggles of raising his three young daughters and the lives that they touch. After his wife was killed in an automobile accident, the patriarch of the family, Danny (Bob Saget), invites his brother-in-law, Jesse (John Stamos), and his best friend, Joey (Dave Coulier), to help raise his children (Candace Cameron, Jodie Sweetin, and Mary Kate/Ashley Olsen).

Season three of the family sitcom Full House originally aired on ABC between September 22, 1989 and May 4, 1990.

Set in San Francisco, the show chronicles widower father Danny Tanner, who, after the death of his wife Pam, enlisted his brother-in-law Jesse Katsopolis and his best friend Joey Gladstone to help raise his three daughters, D. J., Stephanie, and Michelle. In this season, Danny and Rebecca's talk show takes a spike in popularity, meanwhile Jesse and Rebecca continue dating while Jesse prepares to leave his rebellious ways in the past.

Initially, it was planned that Becky would appear only in six episodes of season two, however, the producers found that the Tanner girls needed a mother figure. In the meantime, Joey searches for ways to launch his comedy career. The season also marks the first appearance of Comet, a dog the family adopts in "And They Call It Puppy Love".

On occasion, the cast would preview their show, as well as the other shows in the block (in this case, Family Matters, Perfect Strangers, and Just the Ten of Us; for the block's premiere night only, the fourth show was postponed by a special preview of the short-lived comedy Free Spirit), and even sign off for the night. This season only, the theme song alternates between the extended version and an abbreviated version that goes into the chorus after the first two lines.
