Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) sightings continue to capture public imagination, with reports coming from various sources, including drivers and pilots. These sightings often spark curiosity and debate about their origins and nature. Here are a few notable incidents.
UFO Sighting Over Katy, Texas
On September 18, an eyewitness in Katy, Texas, reported a peculiar sighting involving lights in the sky. The driver managed to capture the event on their cellphone camera for over a minute. The eyewitness stated that there is no airport in the area. The lights flickered in and out of view, with one disappearing as another appeared.
Initially, the driver speculated that the lights might have been flares. However, this theory was challenged when the last light moved "rapidly to the east at a 90-degree angle until it was out of sight beyond the tree line." The Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) received the video as part of a reported UFO sighting in Katy and is currently investigating the incident.

Pilot Encounters Near Eugene, Oregon
In a separate incident, pilots near Eugene, Oregon, reported encountering unusual objects in the sky. A United Airlines pilot reported seeing three or four targets straight west of Eugene.
Not long after, a medical evacuation aircraft pilot reported another object appearing at their 1 o'clock position, approximately 1,000 feet high. The pilot, flying under tail number N661LF, described the object as "red in color" and moving at "extreme speeds." The pilot even struggled to describe the object's movement.

Air traffic control instructed the pilot to take evasive action to avoid a potential collision. "Medevac 1LF roger. You are cleared to maneuver as necessary, left and right, to avoid the UFO out there." Life Flight confirmed that one of their pilots was involved in the incident, as captured in the widely distributed ATC recording.
Life Flight stated that while the nature of the light remained unidentified, it did not pose any safety risk to the aircraft or crew. The company also clarified that neither Life Flight Network nor its crew are speculating about the origin or nature of the light, focusing instead on the safe and efficient operation of their services. The pilot's flight originated from Aurora, Ore., and was destined for North Bend.
Possible Explanations
The UFO reporting center suggests that sightings like these are common and may not involve alien aircraft. Christian Stepien, the center's chief technology officer, suggests that they are more likely to be SpaceX's Starlink satellite internet constellation.
Stepien explained that these satellites appear as "a line of really bright lights that pass over you in a perfectly straight line." He added that most pilots are familiar with this phenomenon. However, when the satellites reach their final orbits, they begin to move around and perform maneuvers, which can lead to unusual sightings.
