Exploring Different Meditation Techniques

The following list of meditation styles is far from exhaustive. Here are some other forms of this ancient practice that you may want to explore.

Transcendental Meditation®

This technique is similar to focused attention meditation, although instead of focusing on the breath to quiet the mind, you focus on a mantra (which could be a syllable, word, or phrase). The Transcendental Meditation® program is taught one-on-one by instructors trained and licensed by Maharishi Foundation in a personalized and individual manner. The practice involves sitting comfortably with one’s eyes closed for 20 minutes twice per day and engaging in the effortless practice as instructed.

Transcendental Meditation

Kundalini Yoga

Just as there are many different types of meditation, so too exist many styles of yoga - particularly Kundalini yoga - that are aimed at strengthening the nervous system, so we are better able to cope with everyday stress and problems.

Vipassana Meditation

Another ancient tradition, this one invites you to use your concentration to intensely examine certain aspects of your existence with the intention of eventual transformation.

Chakra Meditation

This meditation technique is aimed at keeping the body’s core chakras - centers of energy - open, aligned, and fluid.

Chakras

Qigong

This is an ancient and powerful Chinese practice that involves harnessing energy in the body by allowing energy pathways - called “meridians” - to be open and fluid.

Here’s a summary table of the meditation techniques discussed:

Meditation Technique Description Focus Benefits
Transcendental Meditation® Using a mantra to quiet the mind. Mantra Reduces stress and promotes relaxation.
Kundalini Yoga Strengthening the nervous system. Energy and breathwork Improves stress management and overall well-being.
Vipassana Meditation Intense examination of existence. Concentration Promotes transformation and self-awareness.
Chakra Meditation Keeping the body’s chakras open. Energy centers Aligns energy and promotes fluidity.
Qigong Harnessing energy in the body. Energy pathways Opens energy pathways and promotes fluidity.

The Path to Enlightenment Through Acceptance

You cannot reach enlightenment through anything. You cannot reach enlightenment through anything. The "speed of you recognizing your own nature" is bounded by when you will give the show called you. This is a shoving away of the things you tell yourself and believe to the point where it becomes apparent. And this shoving away is being done by giving it up, not by keeping it up.

So maybe the best meditation to reach enlightenment is to sit for 10 minutes, crying your eyes out and praying to God, nature, or nothingness that it makes you give it up. This would at least foster the attitude you need to understand. Every other meditation technique is more about how can "I" be better, calmer, more focused, more relaxed.

So, why is this so important? It's important that you get this down sometime so that you don't try years over years getting something that isn't there. Luckily, I got that early on (after about 1 year of my journey) when I studied Taoism and Zen.

The Practice of Giving Up

So, how to meditate now? Sit down, sit for 60 minutes and get up. Whatever happens in these 60 minutes is completely accepted. And when it can't be accepted, that's accepted too. I mostly don't move because I practiced strong determination sitting for a long time. With this technique most other techniques will come up over time, like focusing on your breath, repeating a mantra, counting the breath etc. Just because you don't limit yourself.

Right now I'm also using HoloSync with it, that boosts my integration process and especially my spiritual quest. That's about it. You could name it: Giving up. Because I am giving up with every second to that that makes me.

Did one or more of these meditation techniques speak to you? Remember, ultimately it doesn’t matter which technique you choose.
